BC's Creative Technology Industry

The creative technology sector stands as a pivotal component of British Columbia's economy, boasting an annual global sales figure of $2.3 billion. This vibrant industry employs over 16,000 people and is spread across more than 250 companies throughout the region.

Millions of people have enjoyed firsthand the work of DigiBC’s renowned members, which includes Electronic Arts, The Coalition (Microsoft), Sony Pictures Imageworks, Industrial Light & Magic, Disney Animation, Relic Entertainment, Unity Technologies, Klei Entertainment (Tencent) and Scanline VFX (Netflix), as well as independent Canadian owned East Side Games Group, Hyper Hippo Entertainment, WildBrain Studios, Atomic Cartoons (Thunderbird), Cloudhead Games, Doberman Pictures and many more! These companies bolster BC’s creative tech industry by combining groundbreaking technology with innovative storytelling to produce engaging experiences that captivate audiences around the world.

As part of Creative Industries Week, DigiBC is presenting Creative Technology Day to feature the exceptional work being done by studios in the video games, animation, visual effects (VFX), virtual/augmented/extended reality (VR/AR/XR), and virtual production sectors across the province. We are also highlighting some of the key programs and initiatives that have been developed with industry partners, educators, and the provincial government to ensure that BC continues to cultivate and maintain world-class talent while enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion across the sector.
